Each time we wear the mask, or coat, of falseness, it causes us pain. And that pain can last a lifetime.
But there is a deep yearning to remove all the falseness and be open, real and free.
It sounds easy but in practice it can be very painful and scary.

This PODCAST is all about that journey to becoming your true and free authentic self.’

Don’t Just Do Something, Lie There

BODY INTELLIGENCE – Don’t Intervene Too Early

If at all possible, and you will have to experiment with this, try and let the body ‘do its thing’ without intervention.
It may be what is needed, and you could be overriding the natural movement of the body to heal.

We live in the age of rapid intervention.
I really believe we jump too soon because we have lost touch with our inner wisdom on the inside and our ability to treat ourselves with the right foods on the outside.

So we jump to intervention way too soon. Maybe its right and maybe its wrong.
The reason I say this is that most holistically minded healers, doctors and lay people consider the body mind system as self healing and super intelligent.
That means that when something goes out of balance the body will seek to rectify it.
Our task is to support that process. Not to intervene unless we absolutely have to.

Consider the animals and birds. All of them do the same thing if they get ill. NOTHING. They crawl away and pretty much stop eating and just wait. And they either get well or they die.

Now, we don’t have to crawl away and it doesn’t have to be that black or white, but its a good lesson in the power of non intervention.
And then if we must intervene, and very often we definitely need to, we must intervene intelligently. Thats a whole another story.

This is the essence of water fasting. Water fasting is actually not something you DO. It is the cessation of doing. That is one of the reasons we fail to understand its power or healing potential. We are so hooked up to the DOING SOMETHING paradigm that not doing something seems absurd.

But water fasting is proof that sometimes this non doing is exactly what is required. In the non doing of fasting the body starts to follow a pattern. It begins to change its focus and starts to clean house.

And that impacts the mind and emotions. It becomes a process – a cathartic and transformative process. Just by doing nothing. When mind has to stop, all it’s hidden shadows, its dark corners, are revealed.

It is the same with the silent retreats my wife AMODA MAA, runs. In the silence, that runs for between 5 and 10 days, the mind starts to scream for activity. It becomes quite desperate for something to occupy it. When this craving is not fed, something else starts to happen. What has been hidden and avoided comes to the surface for healing.

It is quite a dramatic experience, and nearly always brings an increased self knowledge, wisdom, and humility to people. It becomes a relief to do nothing and allow things to find their own way.

So if this non doing works on the mind level in spiritual retreat, and it works on the body level in fasting, why is NON DOING not really popular?

It is proof that we are far away from our living truth. When we are sick we go first to the doctor. Thats it for most people. They leave with the meds and never ever consider alternative actions or natural remedies, let alone nothing!

And very few people treat their depression, anxiety or anger by going to silent retreats or meditation.

No, we do not live in a society that values nothing. Maybe thats beginning to change. There are more spiritual gatherings than ever. There are more fasting centers, more health options than ever before, and more and more people are turning towards natural healing methods.

So something is happening. Or rather, NOTHING is HAPPENING!

The Holistic Map of Your Life and How to Read It.

THE HOLISTIC MAP OF YOUR LIFE.

Your body is the manifestation of your consciousness.
Its what you we’re given to journey through life with. It contains and holds everything that has happened to you since you arrived here. It carries the imprint of your parents, grandparents, great grand parents and so on and on back into the mystery of your past.
0bc4fc1e64b4d5863aa12349a1dc1a95It holds the secrets of life, encoded into its DNA. It is still utterly mysterious to us, but it is supremely intelligent and has capacities and potential to heal or create illness, far beyond our current understanding. Never doubt its capabilities.

It sends you messages you may not be hearing accurately.
It is in reciprocal relationship with your mind, emotions and spirit. Always always bear this in mind.

 

Your spirit is that purest, eternal and unchanging part of you you are born from, and return to when your body dies.
It is also who you really are while you are here in existence. It doesn’t change just because you we’re born.

Remembering your true nature as freedom and consciousness is the most profound healing that can happen, because it liberates you from attachment, need and fear of annihilation. Realising your true nature has a powerful impact on the physical body. It relaxes the nervous system and immune system. It resolves into love.

Love has the power to heal, even to transform dis-ease to ease in the body.

If you want to imagine it, think of your spirit as the highest aspect of your self, and your body as the lowest aspect of your self. Or your spirit as the lightest and the body as the densest.

And there are things that block the free flow of energy from the highest to the lowest.

They are called Emotions. Yes, thats right, emotions, (and I included thoughts and beliefs of the mind in this) can easily be the number one cause of imbalance, disharmony and dis-ease.

Spiritual energy has to flow into and through the physical body, and if it becomes impeded and blocked, its going to cause problems to the whole being, to the whole of you.

The emotional blocks, wounds, traumas, thoughts and beliefs, are usually things carried from the past that become stuck in the physical/emotional body until they are consciously released. Most people do not consciously release them ever, and so carry them for a lifetime.
The body has tremendous powers to cope with these traumas. It works with them and around them. UP TO A POINT. As you get older the body gets weaker, and the attrition gets deeper and more chronic. Thats when trouble sets in. It becomes a systemic breakdown of the whole of you.

Its when physicals illness sets in, depression happens, bitterness and discontent rise to the surface, and resignation easily happens.
Thats the unfortunate outcome we want to avoid.

And it can be rectified and healed.
It is never too late to change things. It is never too late to become harmonious again. In fact its our destiny to do so.

It means you have to develop a strong desire to become wise.
It means you have to be prepared to face and let go of things you may have carried for years.
It might be time to let go of grievances you have had.
The way to start is to be willing.
Attending to the body is vital, and that means clearing up diet and movement.
It means detoxifying and nourishing.

But quickly you will find it also means clearing up the toxic emotions connected to your inner life. This can be done by simple awareness, certain useful techniques, breathing and conscious awareness.

This is the nature of Holistic Healing.  Each journey is unique, and has its own footprint. There are maps. First you need the willingness and then you need to take one step at a time on your unique path.

Auto Immune 101…WHY are you sick, not what disease do you have?

I am going to lay it out very clearly for anyone who has symptoms that indicate something is going on inside them that is not right.
diagnosis_post2If you, or anyone else, has had the diagnosis of the dreaded ‘auto immune disease,’ please read this simple blog. I am writing it to simplify what sounds very mysterious.
We are rendered powerless by this very phrase ‘auto immune disease.’ I know I was many years ago. And not just because I had no idea what it actually meant but also because the doctors seemed mystified and ineffective at actually treating it.

THE TRUTH IS THEY DON’T ACTUALLY TREAT IT.

THEY SUPPRESS AND HIDE IT.

Now I am not a doctor so cannot argue on the level of ‘doctor speak’ so I will have to keep this basic and human. If your immune system is overactive and attacking itself, it is doing it for a reason. That is just basic common sense. Everything in life, everything, happens for a reason. It is the law of cause and effect. Things don’t happen without a cause, there cannot be just effect, it is impossible.

So if your immune system was ok at some point earlier in your life, and now is reacting in what seems to be an attacking way, something has provoked it. Something has caused, and is causing, your immune system to overdo it.

Any intelligent researcher, investigator or detective would ask the million dollar question, ‘What is causing it?’

Without knowing what is actually causing it, how can you really treat it effectively. If you have an infestation of termites and you just stand there killing the termites one at a time hoping the infestation will stop it’s never going to work. You need to find the termite nest. You need to get to the source and deal with the problem.

autoimmuneIt is basic Auto Immune 101. Search for the cause. Treat the cause. Symptoms disappear.

But the medical system with all it’s genius, science, sophistication and complexity cannot and does not do this.
Now, sometimes action has to be taken urgently because someone is in danger due to the ravaging effects of their symptoms. If the forest fire is tearing through the town it has to be stopped in its tracks. And medically speaking sometimes that might involve immunosuppressants and steroids, or strong herbs and so on. But these treatments are not the long term solution. They cannot be because they are not resolving the core issue of what is causing the fire to start!

Always we come back to the same point. Buy time if you must with medication and intervention (I personally didn’t, I just hung on in there while the acute phase was happening, and committed to detoxification) but for heavens sake get wise and find the cause of your issue.

INFLAMMATION AND GUT DYSBIOSIS.

OK I have just saved you days, weeks or months of research.

Yes, these two things are probably the two causal factors in your auto immune condition. Your job is to explore deeper and answer the questions, ‘What is causing the chronic inflammation and gut dysbiosis and how do I treat it effectively and as naturally as possible?

It could be a number of things, from virus to pathogens, toxins, environmental poisons, mould, trigger foods, vaccines etc etc. All these things, and more, can cause can be the precursor to a chronic inflammatory response in the body.

intestineAnd since the seat of the immune system is held in the delicate balance and harmony and integrity of the gut, it is clearly obvious that integrity, balance of bacteria and microbes, restoration of gut wall, elimination of candida, parasites etc must happen for the immune system to ‘calm down.’

These two areas alone, tested for, researched, and acted upon with intention and purpose, may well have such a profound effect on your ‘symptoms and dis-ease’ that it disappears, and relatively quickly. Of course it depends how deeply embedded it is in the body and how much destruction has already happened.

It also depends on your mental and emotional state and stress levels.
What I am offering you here is a starting point above and beyond what your doctor might be offering you. Inflammation is excellent when it is acute and disastrous when it is chronic. Remember that one truth and it will carry you a long way. Gut dysbiosis is absolutely definitely totally going to have to be dealt with if you are sick, or just feeling crap, or have low energy, headaches, allergies, or if you have taken medication, particularly antibiotics. 

It may be frustrating, and sometimes my words will echo as too simplistic, but I promise you there is a way through. It will take some time to reveal why it is happening but once found you then have your starting point for the adventure of your lifetime, the healing path.
And with great persistence and dedication, with help from professionals who understand what I am saying, health and wellbeing should rise, and may be better than ever. It is never guaranteed in this life, but what is there to lose!

But your doctor will not tell you any of this.

Presence Medicine – An approach to healing

The simple power of presence brings you into a new dimension of peace. There is vast power in this dimension even to the point of healing.

Kavi Portrait 4Being present isn’t just some spiritual exercise, it is a very practical approach to illness and healing.
It is an excellent restorative tool for the whole being, including the body. It has beneficial effects.
To be acutely here and now, totally present to whatever is happening, is great healing balm.
The fact is that we humans have lots of stories we tell ourselves and each other.
We have incredibly active, overactive, mind chatter. It is incessant and unstoppable.
We give this chatter so much weight and import that it runs our lives.
But it is not always the best thing, and not always operating in our favour.
The story of your life is the story of your identification with your ego mind. Presence is a space that is beyond the story of the past or future.

“You cannot be both unhappy and fully present in the Now” –Eckhart Tolle

There is an energy field beyond this chatter. That energy field may be called many things, yet they are all the same thing:
Consciousness, the Divine, Infinite Intelligence, or the ‘Love Field’ as I call it.

Entering this field is the pursuit of meditation and simple ’silent sitting.’ It is also our aim.

What the the benefits of this?
Presence is that state where natural order is restored.
Presence burns up past toxic emotions, thoughts and beliefs.
• It burns up old karmic inherited patterns.
• It burns up self negating patterns.
• It disarms addictions.
• It dissolves holding patterns in the body, liberating better energy flow.
• It ends stagnation.
• It sends healing vibrations to the cellular body.
• When accompanied by breath it floods the body with oxygen.
• It transmits and aligns with the frequency of love.
• It unifies the energy field of the body with the cosmos.
• It tunes you into the quantum field.
• It quietens the noise of the ego self, allowing higher mind to inform your life.
• It balances the hemispheres of the brain.
• It opens the intuitive and creative feminine side of the brain.
• It deactivates the chronic cortisol response that drives most lives, and is always present in illness.
• It floods the body, nervous and immune systems, with positivity and love.
• It removes the vibration of fear from the organism.
• It aligns chakras.
• It facilitates regeneration.
• It allows falseness to rise to the surface for clearing.
• It re-harmonises the mind/body relationship that is so often out of balance.

This is the key point about presence and illness. Illness is taxing and stressing to the whole organism. Illness is also highly intertwined with emotions and mind. It is entirely natural, when the body suffers from unusual and painful, life interrupting symptoms, to worry and be concerned. But there is a fine line between healthy concern that drives positive action, and the kind of anxious worry that makes matters worse by stressing the adrenal glands, over burdening immune and nervous system, and bringing the system down lower. Body and mind are hardwired together.

Through ‘Presence Medicine’ practices and awareness this cycle of fear, stress anxiety and taxed body is placated and stopped, allowing deep rest and healing to happen.
Sometimes it means a mental a nd emotional detox. But this itself is an asset in the ling term.

BREATHING:
The power of the breath is indisputable. It is one of the most neglected areas of life, whether we are ill or not. Yet we suffer in so many ways by neglecting it.
You simply cannot fully breathe and have lots of stories of past or future at the same time. One or the other. And healing is only found in the breathing.

Try sitting silently and focus on your breathing, slowly inhaling all the way, and exhaling all the way. Be focused on this activity and be aware that your mind has moments of stillness and silence. So occupied with this simple act of conscious breathing is it that it is, for at least a few precious moments, peaceful.

It will not be long before the mind becomes distracted and drifts away to thinking about something completely unrelated to your activity.
This simple activity should be done daily, constantly, as a valuable training for the mind and the body. It harmonises them and heals them. It calms the holistic organism, softens the nervous system and immune system.

MEDITATION: Meditation gets bad rap.  Most people think it is hard, and that puts them off.  It has to be said that most meditation practice makes it complicated when it doesn’t need to be. If there is any struggling, trying, control or resistance in meditation it fails to deliver any of the benefits it offers.

The meditation I have practiced, still practice, and talk about, is very simple. It is the ‘nothing meditation’ that is only about one thing. That thing is just sitting silently letting everything that happens, happen, without offering any resistance or argument, without trying to control any thought or emotion.

Just silently sitting, quietly,  in awareness, softly breathing in and out and allowing it all. Thoughts might come and thoughts may go, but attach to none of them, allowing all thoughts with the same grace. Even 5 minutes spent in this way is nourishing for the whole of your being, from the cellular body to the emotions and mind.
Nothing to do, nowhere to go, nothing to stop or start, and just a resting in allowance of all that arises.

SESSIONS; Sessions involve exploration, inquiry, silence and presence. There is no ‘format’ but a simple dedication to going below the level of thinking mind to the space of stillness. We will be guided by what occurs and what comes up, and through this you will access a deeper mastery of self and a more profound sense of peace and love. This is the healing space itself.
