Are Heavy Metals a Bigger Problem Than We Imagine?

We live in a chemical world, of that there can be no doubt. Since the industrial revolution the western world has been exposed to increasing amounts of toxic chemicals in all areas of life, from domestic to environmental, from the cars we drive to the homes we live in, the air, the water and the soil.

We ALL have toxic metals inside us. ALL of us, no matter where we live. That is a simple but almost universally accepted truth. We don’t want to face this, and many nay sayers would have us believe that our bodies are designed to cope with such things.

Did I get this rash because of heavy metals?

Our bodies have taken thousands, millions of years to develop immune systems, nervous systems and detoxification systems, to cope with what NATURE throws at us. But the last 200 or 300 years has seen such a dramatic increase in human created toxic insults that our bodies have had no chance to adjust or learn. They are under assault, and have no strategies to successfully defend us.

Check this information..
Heavy Metal Toxicity Symptoms – Medical Medium

Heavy metals can cause ADHD, ADD, autism, depression, OCD, mood disorders, Alzheimer’s, focus, concentration and memory loss issues, and much more. They can also increase any viral or bacterial issues you may be battling. For example, heavy metals can serve as a feeding ground for Streptococcus A or B, E. coli, C. difficile, H. pylori, and yeast cells. This can create an overgrowth of multiple bacteria in our gut, resulting in a condition known as SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), which is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation (or both), and can lead to nutrient deficiencies.”

Then listen to his blog below.

I myself have wondered for years about the danger and prevalence of heavy metals inside me, and inside everyone else. It just seems to make sense that it’s like the elephant in the room.

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

Suppose for a minute that it is true, and heavy metals, toxic substances that the body can’t deal with, and cause havoc to our inner systems, are actually in pretty much all our bodies, to greater or lesser degrees. What would that look like in this day and age?

BINGO – IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS…An epidemic of ‘auto immune’ diseases, autism, alzheimers, depression, anger, anxiety, behavioral problems, thyroid cascade, ‘mysterious illness syndrome’ and so on and on. Exactly what we currently are experiencing in ever increasing numbers, would be accounted for if heavy metals were found to be endemic.

Of course there are other factors that are in play, like the food quality these days, vaccines, air quality, water quality, and the stresses of modern life. But heavy metals are pretty much included in all these.

I have a strong feeling about this. I feel it to be true in my own body, and I have a hunch it may be true for you, if you are suffering from some ‘auto immune.’

Please do some research, and be open to the possibility. I am doing something more about it. I don’t want heavy metals, whatever they are, in my body. They cause havoc and create disease and distress.

What do you think?

Reactivity in Auto Immune Conditions and Inflammation

Please do not take this as scientific proof. If you are looking for modern science you probably wont find it here. This blog and website is only about ideas that might be possible.

As I always say in my blogs and posts, find out for yourself what is true. Believe nothing unless you truly believe it deeply inside. And if you don’t know, be ok with not knowing and make your inquiry into healthy living and illness come from an unknown perspective.

Basically, develop discernment and inner wisdom, it will serve you for life and help others who also don’t know.

My conversations are speculative and holistic. I’m trying to connect dots that medical science doesn’t want to, or can’t, or won’t, connect. Mainly that means exploring the connection between matter and thought, or body and mind you might say.

I want to look at patterns, beliefs, language, energy fields, that sort of thing. I truly believe we only have a small bit of the puzzle of being human. Most of the rest of the puzzle will not be found in science or conventional medicine.

But the puzzle and the mystery is where the exciting stuff is. That’s where I like to dig around. I am an investigator and explorer.

So I have been contemplating the nature of auto immune conditions, described by conventional medicine as ‘self attacking self,’ and decided to talk a little about how our emotional mental ‘reactivity’ to life, thought and situations may play a very big part in perpetuating the suffering of self attack.

The key here is to understand why reactivity, particularly over-reactivity, is happening on the mental, emotional level, and to attempt to ease it down and relax it. In my world awareness and understanding is fundamental in the healing.

Reactivity tends to come from fear. That fear can be fear of danger, fear of lack of safety, threat to life, violence or extreme vulnerability. Fear is an existential issue we all have somewhere deep within. People with trauma, childhood wounds, acute sensitivity (sometimes from birth trauma) and unstable childhoods are prone to this fear more than most. This fear is visceral, it’s not simply emotional or mental. It becomes physical, make no mistake. And that physicality we now know (through science and biology) can affect our gut microbiome, digestive process, gut permeability, ‘fight or flight’ mechanism, and adrenal glands, as well as the whole body. Every physical effect I have just stated impacts the immune system.

The deeper trouble with this is that it sets up a chronic pattern that may lock us in for life. If these things are happening in childhood and youth we learn them as survival mechanisms and repeat them every time something real OR IMAGINED reminds us of the old trauma. It doesn’t have to be a real threat, it can just be the thought of it or something similar. In fact much of this reactivity will happen IN ANTICIPATION of trouble THAT ACTUALLY DOESN’T HAPPEN.

This has been one of my ongoing life stories revealed to me over the years through various body work therapies, deep inner exploration and more recently chiropractic testing. I developed a secret inner part of me that was always alert to danger, always on the look out and hyper vigilant, whether I was asleep or not. The consequences of this are serious and disturbing, both physically and mentally. Physically it means being always in reactivity mode and high alert, and never able to get into deep restful delta sleep where healing and renewal comes from.

It means immune system and nervous system are on constant alert to danger. It began in my early teens during my parents slide into acrimonious divorce and my slide into ‘out of control’ drug taking chaos. It has lasted a lifetime (the effect not the drugs!), and been mostly hidden from view but had massive repercussions on my relationships, purpose in life and most important on my physical health. Specifically on my immune health, gut health, and now thyroid health. It also resulted in addiction problems.

So what does this say?

Well I actually see this reactivity, this over active ‘fight or flight’ mechanism, at play in many people I work with, and almost always with those who experience some form of auto immunity. And it can disguise itself in many ways. Being over critical of self or others is one way, being self hating (remember the ‘self attacking self’ phrase at the beginning of this article?), being extremely resentful, being highly anxious, fearful, angry or depressed are all permutations of the same thing, reactivity.

This blog piece is just the beginning of a much bigger conversation about mind and body and trauma, and about how the immune system gets over activated when we are young.

If we accept that reactivity might be an issue both physically and emotionally it gives us knowledge and insight, and puts us in a greater position to be able to take action.

What action? I am going to discuss this next time.

I would love to hear from you what you think, as I really don’t have all the answers, but thousands of questions that I love exploring.

And the next piece I think will be how to turn our unhealthy reactivity to a healthy and calm responsiveness so we can maintain calm in our inner world.

Thank you so much for reading, and please please comment and add something to the conversation. And share this is you feel moved to.

Thyroid Inquiry

I have been forced, invited, demanded, to look at this confusing and mysterious area of thyroid over recent years, and increasingly so in the last year as I began to see links and connections between certain symptoms that have been appearing.

For example, a full blown skin rash that appeared last year which was shocking and intense, covered my entire body in red spots and then developed into welts that were very scary and painful. I still have the residue of these issues and am finding it hard to ‘kick them into touch.’

Both my wife and I suspected, intuited and rationalized that all my symptoms, from the rash to swollen calves, to foggy brain and increasingly causeless anxiety were somehow linked to a thyroid imbalance, which may or may not have been exacerbated by a very poor mercury amalgam removal in Costa Rica about 2 years ago.

(More on that fiasco some other time, but needless to say, if you are going to get your mercury removed, GO PROFESSIONAL!)

MY TERRIFYING RASH LAST YEAR!

I saw doctor after doctor in the UK, both at the outset of the symptoms and when they were at their peak.

NONE of them were interested in connecting the symptoms with the thyroid gland, or inflammation, or gut problems, or even my auto immune problems. No, they wanted to send me to dermatology, or rheumatology, or some other more specialist department that sounded like it was helpful but was not.

WHY NOT?

Because at the end of the day, after all diagnoses and investigation, and this is my most important point ever, and after all tests were in, THEY COULDN’T OFFER ME ANYTHING USEFUL, or any useful connection between symptoms, and they couldn’t offer me any treatment that was natural or dealt with root cause.

They had no idea what the root cause was, and they had no methods to find out. Neither was that their remit.

That was it basically. I was alone with the internet. I couldn’t afford to see a Functional Doctor which is what I would always recommend for someone with auto immune related issues.

I saw a fantastic acupuncture therapist and herbalist who helped me restore some balance, and there really are imbalances in the whole body system.

I bought this book. http://a.co/azf2chL

And I  really started to focus on what I could do to calm things down and restore some order. I have a long way to go, but I am delighted that I haven’t had to take any medication at all.

My main areas of focus are: GUT. LIVER. ADRENALS.

My current skills are: PATIENCE. CONSISTENCY. RELAXATION.

My current awareness is: MIND is as important as BODY in healing.

If you, or anyone you know, is experiencing mild, or harsh, symptoms that might be diagnosed as thyroid related, be warned about going down the medical route on its own.

Seek second opinion and further testing by alternative practitioners, functionals doctors, chinese medicine doctors etc. It might save your thyroid gland and prevent you having to depend on pharmaceutical medication for the rest of your life.

Here are some resources to pursue:

And here are some ideas from Dr Axe. They are pretty basic but they introduce the principles. An anti inflammatory diet is ESSENTIAL, no question.

Natural Hypothyroidism Treatment – FROM DR AXE.

Here are the 8 Secrets to fixing your thyroid issues:

1. Go Gluten and A1 Casein FREE – the most common allergies and food intolerances today are from wheat and dairy products because of the hybridized proteins of gluten and a1 casein.  These proteins can cause “Leaky Gut” which in turn will cause inflammation of the thyroid and effect it’s function.  Follow a grain-free diet or at least go gluten free.  Then only consume dairy products that come from A2 cows, goat milk, or sheep milk.

2. NO BPA – Bisphenol A (BPA) is found in plastic bottles and can disrupt your endocrine system and effect your thyroid.  I recommend only drinking out of glass, stainless steel, or BPA free plastic bottles.

3. Check Your Iodine Levels – If they are low use a kelp or organic liquid iodine supplement.

4. Heavy Metal Detox – I recommend using a combination of Milk Thistle, Turmeric, Chlorella, and Cilantro to detox these harmful metals from your cells and organs.

5. More Selenium – Make sure you’re getting enough selenium in your diet but also don’t go overboard.  Some of the best selenium containing foods are brazil nuts, salmon, sunflower seeds, beef, mushrooms and onions.

6. Adaptogen Supplements – Can lower cortisol levels and improve thyroid function like Ashwagandha and Tulsi.

7. Silver Fillings Removal – if you have amalgam fillings talk with a DAMS mercury safe dentist about proper removal.

8. Lower Carbohydrate Intake – Lower your intake of sugars and grains and replace them with healthy fats.  Most women especially consume far too many carbs which increase estrogen and negatively effect the thyroid.  Instead consume healthy fats that will balance hormones, like: coconut oil, coconut milk, avocado, grass-fed beef, wild salmon, chia, flaxseeds, and hemp seeds.

AUTO IMMUNE ISSUES: The Sacred Boundary of Self Violated

ALL AUTO IMMUNE PEOPLE: The Sacred Boundary of Self:

If you have an auto immune condition, please look beyond the physical level for your healing. You probably wont heal unless you do.
You can look for the magic bullet that cures you, you wont find it.
You can search the physical plane, the world of one cause for the effect, but you wont find it.
You can stay locked in this land of separation, but it wont heal you.

NO…

You must look beyond the linear and dive into the murky world, the world of emotion, mind, spirit, into beliefs and wounds.
It is not optional.

An auto immune condition means that the sacred boundary of self has been breached, physically in the gut wall and thus the immune system, and energetically and metaphorically in the sense of self we carry from birth to death.

You as a self, a small self, have a boundary that protects you and keeps you safe. It is an entirely natural function that happens almost unconsciously when things are flowing and harmonious in ones life.

BUT…Trauma, wounding, abuse, shock and terror, fear and stress when experienced in childhood or youth, CAN set the pre-conditions for subsequent auto immune conditions.
They don’t necessarily cause it, but they can participate in it to a great degree. They are a part of the condition.

For those who are experiencing auto immune, you simply must look into this area of your life. It really matters.

And this comes from personal experience and from working with other people.
Don’t take my word for it. Inquire within. Explore this idea for yourself, truthfully and deeply.

Ancestral Wounds, Holistic Healing and Spiritual Inquiry – New Podcast

Ancestral Wounds, Holistic Healing and Spiritual Inquiry.

A new podcast is available.
This one follows on form last weeks.

These two quotes sum up this weeks episode:

I feel very strongly that I am under the influence of things or questions which were left incomplete and unanswered by my parents and grandparents and more distant ancestors. It often seems as if there were an impersonal karma within a family which is passed on from parents to children. It has always seemed to me that I had to answer questions which fate had posed to my forefathers, and which had not yet been answered, or as if I had to complete, or perhaps continue, things which previous ages had left unfinished.” Carl Jung

My physician explained that ongoing adversity in childhood leads to a chronic state of “fight, flight or freeze.” Researchers at Yale had recently shown that when inflammatory stress hormones flood a child’s body and brain, they alter the genes that oversee our stress reactivity, re-setting the stress response to “high” for life. This increases the risk of inflammation, which manifests later in cancer, heart disease, and autoimmune diseases like mine.’ Donna Jackson Nakazawa

Everything that happens on the level of form is a call to holistic inquiry.
This podcast dives deeper down the rabbit hole of emotions and the body, ancestral wounds and childhood conditioning.
A powerful message for all those looking for transformation, joy, love, health and freedom.
‘Holistic Wisdom is a Lived and Embodied Spirituality that has its feet planted firmly on the ground and has its roots deep in the mud of our humanity, yet its branches reach to the heavens.
And in between its roots and its branches is the healthy flow of energy.
Its simple, natural and very profound.’
Symptoms, wounds, issues from the past, trouble in relationship, depression, addiction, lostness, anxiety, all auto immune diseases, in fact any chronic condition are ALL pointing us to Holistic Inquiry, the Great Looking Inwards.
We fail to understand this and try and deal with them on the surface, because thats all we know and thats all we are offered by the mainstream medical model.
Matters discussed: The existential meaning of Thyroid Dysfunction and other chronic dis-eases. Ancestral burdens and the negative power of traumatic conditioning.
Fear as a factor in illness.

Sleuthing Your Symptoms – Becoming Sherlock Holmes of Your Body

It has taken me at least a month. In fact in total it’s taken maybe a year and a half of mystery, and I think my wife and I have finally solved the riddle of my weird health symptoms and non specific suffering.

Mercury poisoning!

Damn it.

In Costa Rica in January of last year we both had mercury amalgams removed in what I can only describe, in hindsight, as a ‘backstreet dentist.’ Amoda is ok, but I have definitely suffered since that time. But for a whole lot of reasons we haven’t really pinned my health issues directly onto that experience.
Last night our sleuthing research landed firmly and squarely on a website that detailed all the possible effects of mercury poisoning, and although some of the damage is unbelievable for many people (not me thankfully), ALL of my symptoms fitted perfectly. That was a first. With previous attempts at finding the cause there was always some anomaly and some doubt. But not with this.
From my unexpected spike in bad cholesterol for no reason, to skin rash, to fatigue, brain fog, poor wound healing, cold body, swelling, everything just pointed in one direction. Mercury.

And that is the main reason I’m writing this short blog today. It’s not just about the relief in finding an answer to my searching.
ingredientdetectivebIt’s about the need to become your own Health Sherlock Holmes and approach your symptoms methodically, scientifically and intuitively, and never stop until you feel ok about letting it go OR you find something that feels absolutely right. You have to rest in knowing or not knowing. constant doubt is insidious and wears down the mind and the body, causes adrenal stress and leaves a big hole in the psyche.

The body is intelligent. It is responsive and acting intelligently. It follows certain pathways and has it’s own logical process. But we still don’t know many of these processes. Our danger is that, because we don’t know the ‘mind of the body’ well enough, we are always in danger of intervening too early and ‘hijacking’ that process.

Sometimes it’s necessary to do that. Often it is not helpful for healing.

There is a well known phrase that floats around the ‘health internet’ that says something like ‘the trouble with toxic medications is you then have to heal from the medication AND the cause of the symptoms.’ Modern medicine doesn’t take that into account at all.

It’s a kind of ‘sweep it under the carpet’ technology. Yeah sure, it works in emergency, and I myself took antibiotic cream and antihistamines. But I know that when I have finished the treatment I have to go back and repopulate my gut bacteria, detox my system and build health consciously with supplements and real food.

The more we HELP the body’s intelligence and don’t suppress it, the better we heal. That is my theory after all these years.

And that really means a revolution in patient centrality needs to happen. The patient, you and me, have to become central to the healing, health and illness process, not as the ‘patient’ but as the director of health. It’s called ‘taking full responsibility’ for your life, health and illness.

It still means you will probably consult professional help. But you wont put your intelligence and critical judgement in somebody else’s hands unless you absolutely know they can be trusted with it.

Doctor will be one modality of many. This current system of ‘doctor as health god’ is at an end, and move on we must. Doctor has his/her place, and sometimes chemical medication is the only option. But thats all it should be, AN OPTION.

At your disposal you can have, a functional doctor, a naturopath, a Chinese doctor, an Ayurvedic doctor, specific and affordable testing, a detox specialist, a massage therapist, a healer, rebirther, and your source of research, Google.

Imagine having all those at your fingertips, so if you do get symptoms you can decide who to consult, and you do that because you are already informed by your research on Google. And do not doubt the power of Google to help you discover the cause of your issues. Here is some starting news.

Is-Google-Searching-for-the-Next-Big-Thing1Your doctor uses Google all the time!

There is nothing wrong with exploring and researching your symptoms on Google, and do not let your doctor tell you otherwise. Being central to your own health is called Patient Power. You want that. Your doctor may not want an informed and intelligent patient. To your doctor you mean trouble. So they call you neurotic and demean your inquiries. DO NOT LET THEM. There is a big change coming in the world of health, and patient power is going to be central to it. The trick is to get real smart about how you interact with your doctor.

Make sure they know that you are not a fool and you only want answers, and you prefer natural health, and you want to know the root cause of your issues. Ask them to help you with that. If they are super resistant you may have to change doctors.

It is high time doctors started to change the way they relate to the patient. And that will happen when we change how we relate to them. Remember, you have options, and some of them are so much better than your doctor. Many already treat patients with dignity and openness, but this needs to become the norm, not the exception.

So there you are, thats my blog for today. I hope it encourages you on your journey. For me, I now have something definite to attend to, and can drill down into making sure any mercury is removed from my body, and creating better health and stronger immune system and nervous system.

And be careful where you have your mercury amalgams removed. We were assured by this guy in Costa Rica, who had quite impressive equipment and talked a good removal, that we would be safe. But it would appear there is no safe when it comes to mercury. There are thousands of tales of the after effects of removal for some time, sometimes years. Why oh why did we ever decide to put bloody mercury in our mouths!!!!! I mean, who had that bright idea? Because it was not one of the most intelligent ones I’m sorry to say.

Thanks for reading, stay well, do your research. Drop me a comment, like my blog, share it with someone who is a bit lost, and get empowered. There is a revolution happening and you can be at the forefront of it by simply deciding to be your own health advocate from now on…Good luck..

What a month its been! The never ending mystery full body rash.

Yes you read that right.

If you are a Facebook friend of mine, and if you are not then jump over there now and join me, I’m very interactive and friendly https://www.facebook.com/kavijezziehockaday
you will know all about my recent experience with the onset of a very troubling full body rash that appeared almost ‘out of nowhere and left me reeling in shock and the most profound itching I have ever known.

I am happy (fingers crossed and prayers given) to report that finally it is yielding to everything I have thrown at it and I pray it is really beginning to recede, die down, and disappear. But it has left me confused, even bewildered and still without any real answers as to why it happened.

So here I am going to talk about it a bit, and blog about the need to know what is causing our issues, and how important it is to be able to connect cause with ailment, so we have a mental and emotional relationship with it, which means we might be able to have some influence and effect on it in the future, and particularly prevent it from happening again. If it was connected to lifestyle choices I want to know.

I am all about finding root causes. If I know why something is happening it gives me great insight and I can connect the dots. Mystery is so much more difficult to deal with. But the body, mind, emotional system is highly complex and there are so many influences when it comes to symptoms and illness that it can be almost impossible to discover a root cause.

That requires a different level of understanding and acceptance.

So this is some of the story:
I believe it traces back to last year, though I can’t prove it or know it conclusively.
Last year I began suffering from swollen calves, intermittently. I also started to get weaker and more tired. I think there was brain fog. And I had periods when I just didn’t feel myself. In January last year I had my mercury amalgams removed, and because I already had a weak immune system and slightly low thyroid function, it is entirely possible this whole thing undermined my entire physical being and laid the ground for subsequent events.
I went to see a kinesiologist because of my health issues and he confirmed that my detoxification pathways were sluggish and blocked, I did have mercury in my system and my lymphatic system was very poor.
To my regret I didn’t follow through with him at that time.

Cut to this year in Costa Rica. I was under a lot of stress and not handling it well. Life was very insecure and ungrounded and I was pushing my energy with too much coffee and adrenaline, getting myself caught in a bit of a vicious cycle. i do remember thinking, ‘this isn’t working,’ but I didn’t respond as I didn’t know what to do. I was eating great, a Paleo and raw food diet, doing some fasting and exercising, despite feeling tired. I wasn’t right but i kept going.

And then I got a small spot on my lower leg, maybe just a spot, maybe an insect bit, but just a tiny thing. And it wouldn’t heal. It stayed there for the next two months without doing anything. I have experienced slow and bad wound healing before, and had infections that have not healed, so i know the territory. And remember I said my immune system was under par? Well that would contribute to poor wound healing. As would poor circulation, which is thyroid related.

So we returned to England and still the spot, mark thing was still there, and eventually I went to see the doctor. Now i have no faith in doctors but I didn’t want to treatment but testing. Truth is my Ayurvedic practitioner told me to get it checked out as it was bigger by then and looked slightly worrying, like a cancer or something.

So thats when this phase really started.

Blood tests, and skin tests. Nothing revealed itself. No inflammation, no kidney problems, thyroid normal, nothing that would indicate why calves have been swollen or the spot on leg.

The doctor suggested I use some antibiotic cream because there was some infection. I accepted, reluctantly.

I used this stuff for the ext 7-10 days, not really seeing any change.
(Since that time I have read the ‘side effects of this fucidin cream…

  • Pain, stinging, burning sensation or redness of skin on application.
  • Skin rashes.
  • Contact dermatitis.
  • Skin itching or redness
  • Hives.
  • Skin blistering.
  • Conjunctivitis.
  • Allergic reactions, for example swelling of the skin, face, throat or tongue or difficulty breathing.

And then I stopped. After approximately 7 days I started seeing spots on my arms, then on my legs, then on my shoulders, and then on my torso. It happened quickly and very intensely. Pretty soon I had spots everywhere, getting very itchy. I had no fever and didn’t feel ill. Scared yes, but ill no.

What the heck was this? I have never had one allergy in my life. I have had rosacea eczema on my face twenty years ago. there was nothing to account for this.

I returned to the doctor and got zero answers. He referred me to dermatologist. They always do that, when they don’t know, which is usually, they refer you on, an endless merry go round of ‘specialist’ who have no clue about holistic health.

So the doctor gave me some more antibiotic cream and I went away for two week with my wife so she could write and I could try and heal this thing. I had seen my Ayurvedic practitioner and he diagnosed that I was reacting very badly to near collapse of the system because of stress overload and other factors. he gave me lots of herbs.

Those two weeks I got worse and worse, but never got ill. No fever, and no infection.

I focused as much as possible on health, not the problem. I did yoga every day, I juiced daily, ate a simple anti inflammatory diet, got fresh air, meditated, talked lovingly to my body and researched what on earth was going on.

Then it got so red and ‘angry’ that I went to the hospital. The emergency doctor gave me antihistamine tablets to take down the reaction, but had no idea why it had come. Still no cause.

I peeled. My whole body peeled layers of skin off.

I was very scared, and very very itchy to the point of insanity.

The peak point was going to Watford A and E when I thought I was getting seriously ill. We waited 5 hours to see a doctor who took all my vitals and announced it looked ‘like dermatitis.’ That was it..I mean, I knew it was feckin dermatitis,That just means inflammation of the skin!

He offered to take me into hospital and hydrate me, and pump me full of steroids. I declined.

When I woke the next morning I felt something had shifted and I knew I was going to get better.

And now I am here in Stockholm, nearly two weeks later. I am definitely on the mend, but it is slow. The rash has eased and is not so angry. The leg wounds are still nasty. And I still itch. But I am better.

Two days ago I went to a Chinese Doctor. I have a lot of experience of Chinese medicine and it really works, so I have great faith in it. He diagnosed I have heat and wind in the blood, he doesn’t know or care why. his job is to clear it. So I have bags of herbs to cook up twice a day (thats the usual Chinese protocol) and need to lay off heat producing foods like seafood and cauliflower.

I am hopeful. I still think, when this is cleared, that I need to address my whole system and get thoroughly tested, when we get to the US. I want to get a complete and convincing thyroid panel done, the test in UK by conventional medicine is sketchy and not reliable. I want mineral and vitamin test. I want to find out if there is mercury in my system. lets wait and see.

So before I show you a gallery of all the pictures I want to talk about the emotional and psychological impact and demands of this long and strange experience.

It has challenged me, mainly because of its unknown cause. But I had to decide at some point to accept its mystery and focus on health, feed myself good vibrations, and stay focused on the healing. But one can’t pretend either. So its a knife edge. It is a mystery, and it challenges us because its a mystery. Humans work on wanting to know why. I know I do. It drives me mad not to know. But I refuse to crumble under not knowing.

And here is one of the important points. I did not yield to the easiest course of action, which was steroids. I did do the antibiotics, and I did do a course of antihistamines but I felt that was as far down the rabbit hole of medication as I was prepared to go. I always prefer the natural route. And even though many many people advised me to go to emergency, doctors etc, they actually have done no good whatsoever. The best info has come from Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. And the best treatments.

I’m sorry if this has been a long blog but I needed to get it off my chest.

Happy healing to you all.

A common (yet uncommonly diagnosed) disease…

HASHI16_banner_attend_600x150

In the United States alone, 53 million people have autoimmune diseases, and an estimated 22 million of them have Hashimoto’s disease. This summit is intended to bring people together in an effort to expand the Hashimoto’s community, gain access to support and discover new ways of healing. Join us!

WHY ATTEND?

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is also known as Hashimoto’s disease, autoimmune thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. It is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the thyroid and a gradual destruction of thyroid tissue by the immune system. It occurs in 3 stages: silent autoimmunity, autoimmune reactivity and full-blown autoimmune disease–the sooner it is detected, the better your odds of getting good results from treatment.
