It’s Just a Ride

Despite the overwhelming desire we humans have to define ourselves by either what we do or do not do, the truth is far more magnificent and transcendent.
The truth is simple, yet it’s simplicity is utterly inconceivable by the mind. This truth doesn’t actually help you particularly, but without it you will lean towards becoming OVER identified with whatever you are drawn to, and that OVER identification may lead you towards great unhappiness and fear, possibly depression.
Are you ready for this simple, magnificent truth?
First let me tell you what you are not:
You are not a wife, husband, seeker, artist, activist, coach, vegan, meditator, runner, raw foodie, or anything. You are not sick, healthy, happy, miserable or angry. You are not rich or poor. Not for this or against that. You are not becoming more spiritual or more ‘at peace’. You are not growing. You are not better than or worse than anyone. Put simply.
You are not:
All the above, and a million other descriptions of things you are not, are THINGS YOU DO while you are here.
But please, for heaven’s sake, do not become too identified with these things because this identification will cause suffering. You can take them seriously but always remember (I am Not) BECAUSE….

YOU ARE CONSCIOUSNESS!!! before and after everything. You came from consciousness and you return to consciousness, and while you are here YOU ARE CONSCIOUSNESS.
This is the first, and most important, truth known in spirituality. Unfortunately the majority arrive here on this Planet and instantly totally forget this one fundamental piece of information. And as a consequence take this life to be the whole show, the complete ticket. Ego untethered is a monster. When ego rules, guaranteed we are gonna have problems.
And here we are.
So please, just remember this one truth and don’t get so carried away that you become murderous or fanatical or suicidal.
As the great Bill Hicks once said “It’s just a ride“.

This World is a stage – Drama and Karma

Shakespeare was oh so right! Did he really know how true he was? Was he such a seer, such a sage that he understood the deepest profundity of this life we live? Or did he just intuit such a remarkable observation?
We shall never know.

But the truth of what he said remains, and the deeper I look into the mystery of life itself the more convinced I am that this experience we live out here on Earth is such a small part of a much much bigger picture. My intuition leads me to conclude (at this stage of my learning) that this ‘life’ is actually a playing out of karma, and an opportunity to awaken to this truth and bring the endless playing out to an end through awareness, compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love.
And we all just get caught up in the drama.

Karma Drama.

We believe it all to be true, and we blame and accuse and feel guilty and pass the buck and hand it on to our children and the wheel of karma just rumbles on to the next life and the next life until maybe 8 or 10 or 100 lives down the road we say ‘ HOLD ON A MINUTE!’  ….And then the process of clear seeing begins to happen. That is where the bewildering excitement of existence really is, when we see this life in its TRUE perspective. It is a script we are handed when we arrive here. We are surrounded by a supporting cast. We call them family. We are tied to them as characters are tied to each other in a play. And as the play begins through act 1 and act 2 it gathers pace, sometimes funny, often tragic, even ironic and definitely symbolic, but there is one crucial defining difference between a play and OUR Karma play.

We can step out of our role any time we want. We are not simply characters on a page. We have been gifted this power, the power of AWARENESS, the power to become aware of our actions, and to step out of the drama.
Awareness is the beginning of the end for the drama. It is where the buck begins to stop.
We can either carry the wounds that have been given us in this life, and hand them unconsciously on to our children, our loved ones, or we can understand why the wounds were inflicted, forgive them, let them go, develop the art of compassion and gratitude, and step Gloriously OFF THE WHEEL OF KARMA.
That is the most profound of powers. Animals don’t have it, nature itself doesn’t have it. But neither animals or nature are playing out a drama. It’s only us.
I believe when we go beyond the veil of death and we see what this ‘life’ we live really meant, we will laugh from a place of such radiant unconditionality it will light up the heavens.
Until then we have one very simple choice available to us. Stepping out of drama, bringing the curtain down on the whole show.

The Balance of Opposites

We are living in strange times indeed. So many people clutching at ‘normal’, holding on to their lives, their jobs, their beliefs and principles while all the time sensing, coming from deep within life itself, change on a level unimaginable. And so we have the first of life’s great anomalies. We live normal lives in abnormal times, we hang on to what we think we know when what we know is being revealed as false. We live lives of half truths and misperception, and take our misperception for truth. It is a dangerous weapon to carry.
And, for whatever reason, partly because the internet has jettisoned humanity to a new level of awareness and connection and knowledge, and partly because the evolutionary impulse itself is causing growth and expansion of life itself, the global community finds itself seeking new and greater freedom.

People want freedom. They want to live how they want. Freedom of choice, freedom to believe what they choose. Personally, I think its deeper than this external expression. I believe the human mind itself is yearning for transcendence, longing to remember it’s true divine nature as consciousness. This impulse IS the impulse for freedom from tyranny, but it’s freedom from the tyranny from the ego it is seeking. And it falsely seeks this by looking outside itself at the world. BUT…YOU CANNOT BE FREE ON THE OUTSIDE UNTIL YOU ARE FREE ON THE INSIDE.

So on one hand we have this deep desire within humanity itself to grow beyond the lies and and manipulation of the ego’s need for control, and on the other hand we have the ego itself, fearful and alert, seeking ever more cunning and devious ways to own, control and dominate you…FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!

And that is the scenario playing out on the stage of the world. And it is exactly that, a stage. The outer picture we see is a reflection of the inner experience. We take it for real, and it is real. But it is only as real as our inner experience. And we mistake it for the whole picture. The fundamental problem with humanity right now is a misguided belief that freedom can only be found on the outside. We suffer from complete misunderstanding and misidentification.

We are balancing opposites, within and without. The wise amongst us, spiritual masters, tantric teachers, and the true gurus, know this to be true. We balance our inner desire for freedom and the egos desire to control. The truth is we are the bowl that holds both polarities. The truth is we are the neither the desire for freedom nor the need to control, but the sky within which these two appear, and then also we are those desires. When we falsely identify with one desire or the other need, then we are prisoners, locked up by our own beliefs. This then gets played out on the stage of our lives and we take it to be real. Multiply this by many billions of energies doing the same thing and we have what we call REALITY, THE REAL WORLD, THE CURRENT GLOBAL SITUATION.
Don’t believe a word of it. Don’t even believe your thoughts about it. Fear is the curse of humanity. It’s only true purpose is to open the door to love.

We are chasing our own tail, trying to eat ourselves. When we wake up to see we are one body, one global body with 7 billion little cells, we will be utterly shocked that we could fight ourselves, harm ourselves, kill ourselves, oppress ourselves. When the bodies cells fight each other we call it cancer. When the global bodies cells fight each other we call it freedom and oppression. It’s blindness of a global order.

To be concluded……
